In a recently-surfaced video, actor Salman Khan has jokingly said that the popular song Oo Antava from the hit Telugu film Pushpa: The Rise has ‘inspired’ him. The video drew the attention of Samantha Ruth Prabhu, on whom the song was picturised. Pushpa: The Rise starred Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil. The film was a blockbuster earning over ₹364 crore, and Samantha’s special song was a chartbuster, contributing to the film’s popularity. In a video from IIFA 2022 posted by a fan account on Twitter on Sunday, Salman is seen giving an interview when he is asked if there is a film or song from the past year which inspired him in any way. As soon as the question finishes, Salman begins singing Pushpa’s popular number Oo Antava before he smiles and moves away. The short video was widely shared on the platform by fans and even caught the eye of Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who featured in the popular song.
Samantha shared the video, adding a bunch of heart emojis as the text. Fans of both the actors reacted to the acknowledgement, with many requesting the actors to team up. “This would be a dream collaboration,” tweeted one fan. Another even came up with a portmanteau for them and wrote, “We want Sal-mantha.”
Oo Antava marked the first time Samantha did a dance number in a film and Allu Arjun later revealed he was hesitant to approach her, thinking she would flat out reject the offer. He later thanked Samantha for being a part of the song and the film. The song, sung by Indravathi Chauhan and choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, was a huge hit across the country. The Hindi version of the song was sung by Kanika Kapoor.
Samantha was recently seen on screen in Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, which also starred Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara. She currently has three films in the pipeline--Shaakuntalam, Yashoda, and Kushi.
