Taapsee Pannu has opened up about her latest release Blurr and also how it is impossible to judge what is working with the audience in today's times.
Taapsee Pannu has opened up about how the Bollywood box office is behaving as well as what she looks at in a film to gauge whether it will work with the audience or not. Talking about picking strong characters in her career, Taapsee was asked how she gauges what is working or not working with the audience. The actor responded, “Well, if someone knew this I think that person would be the God of cinema right now. I don’t think any one of us can claim or fully know what is working or not working with the audience. As of now, when looking at a film as an audience, I think if will I spend my time and money on a film or no? Then I decide if I should do it. Otherwise, guarantee to kisi ko kisi cheez ki nahi hoti (There is no guarantee for anyone or anything).”
In Blurr, Taapsee plays a woman who is investigating the mysterious death of her twin while also battling with gradually losing her eyesight. She said she did feel her other senses were heightened when she could not see while filming. “It makes your other senses powerful. I could hear more, think more. Your other senses automatically balance out when you are unable to see. When you are able to see, your mind makes different interpretations. When you can’t see, your mind is very much focused. This was the difference I realised after sitting blindfolded for hours,” she said.
Blurr, directed by Ajay Bahl, was released on Zee5 on December 9. The thriller also stars Gulshan Devaiah, Kruttika Desai Khan, and Abhilash Thapliyal. The official Hindi remake of the Spanish thriller Julia’s Eyes, the film received positive reception from critics. Talking about how she found the film different from conventional thrillers, Taapsee said, “Well, what attracted me was that one has to constantly keep guessing as to what is happening and why is it happening and it’s not just who has done it. It’s also about what all humanly is happening with the people involved. There are so many human layers in it, relationship layers, interpretation of human nature and character that happens with every layer in the film which attracted me more towards it rather than it being an ordinary thriller.”
Taapsee has a number of films lined up for 2023, starting with Jana Gana Mana, followed by Alien and Who Ladki Hai Kahan. She will end the year with her first collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani--Dunki.
