Here's a modern day romance gone sour! A jilted lover posted nude pictures of his ex-girlfriend on Facebook for millions of users to watch and has gone to jail for doing the same.
Even before the police and the Facebokk authorities could take the image off the site, the picture was available to more than 500 million users, Stuff.co.nz.
20 year old Joshua Simon Ashby was sentenced to 4 months in prison by a New Zealand judge for "irresponsible drunken jealous rage." The judge said that technology should not be used this way and his act would do "incalculable damage to someone's reputation."
Ashby has made legal history by being the first person to be sentenced for a crime by using Facebook under the seldom-used morality and decency section of the Crimes Act. He also sent her a text message threatening to kill her.
Even Ashby's parents had no problem with the sentence and even termed it "excellent work by the judge." They hope that this would deter other teenagers from "dark side" of Facebook. Ashby's mother told the website, "Maybe when someone thinks about doing it they'll remember someone got sent to prison for that and they'll say: `Oh my God, I'm not going to do that.'"
