Shedding more confusion than clarity over her pregnancy rumors, French First Lady, Carla Bruni said she would "remain tight-lipped about that to protect something".

During an interview with French newspaper Le Figaro, Bruni did not issue a straight denial to rumours that she is expecting her first child with husband Nicolas Sarkozy, 56.

The rumours emerged after Bruni, 43, was pictured apparently sporting a bump some days back.

"If you’ll allow me, I’d rather not answer these questions about my family," Daily Mail quoted Bruni as saying.

The former supermodel referred to her husband’s career as a reason why she would not discuss her pregnancy.

"Around 180 pc of the time my husband is dealing with his country. He only talks about that.

"My lips are sealed to protect something and to protect all the work he does," she said.

"She hid her little stomach with her shawl every time that a photographer approached, she did not deny it when we asked the question without a microphone," an unnamed interviewer revealed.
