Charlie Sheen had to run off the stage after being booed and pelted by beer cans at a hip-hop festival.

The former 'Two And A half Men' star came onstage to announce rapper Tech N9ne during the Gathering of the Juggalos hip-hop festival but the crowd started to boo and jeer Sheen.

It soon got worse for the actor as he started getting pelted by a variety of missiles from the Illinois audience.

Sheen remained in control and even joked that it reminded him of his disastrous Motor City performance, the Daily Mail reported.

" feels like I'm back in Detroit. Are we still winning? ...that's what I'm talking about."

But despite his efforts to warm-up the crowd, things rapidly went from bad to worse.

As the first of many beer cans was launched at him he quipped, "I should have wore my goggles."

He, however, managed one small victory by catching one beer can before it hit him on the face and threw it back to the crowd.

"Hey, how about that. That's what I'm talking about. Alright, before I get impaled I'm gonna give the stage, gonna give the stage to Tech N9ne. Give it up," said Sheen.
