CP’s Dhobi Ghat
You must have heard of Kiran Rao’s film Dhobi Ghat but did you know that there is one right in the heart of Connaught Place. To reach there, you have to go to CP’s Hailey Road.
You must have heard of Kiran Rao’s film Dhobi Ghat but did you know that there is one right in the heart of Connaught Place. To reach there, you have to go to CP’s Hailey Road. Once you’re there, take the left that directs you to Agrasen Baoli. After crossing the Baoli, you will reach Devi Prasad Sadan Dhobi Ghat.
When we reached there, we spotted more than 20 dhobis working on various machines. After chatting with a few dhobis, we realised that they get clothes from all the ministers’ houses, guest houses and the hostels around the place. We spotted a bulk of white sheets and towels hanging on the wires. We also realised that their technique of washing clothes had become modern. They now have big machines, which made their working much quicker. When we started taking pictures, they were more than willing to pose. “If you publish our picture on the paper, will we be famous like Shah Rukh too?” asked one of the dhobhis
