It’s official. The Common-wealth Games committee has announced the names of the six ambassadors — they’re all sports stars who’ve made India proud. Olympians Abhinav Bindra, Sushil Kumar and Vijender Singh, shuttler Saina Nehwal, shooter Samaresh Jung, the best athlete in the previous Games, and woman boxer MC Mary Kom — are the chosen six.

Others hope to spread optimism among Delhiites. “To all the people who doubt the success of the Games, I will say that it will surely be a success,” said Nehwal. “We have to show the world that we can conduct such an event with great success.

Logon ko darne ki zaroorat nahi hai

,” said Kumar.

One of India’s leading female boxers, Mary Kom is also sure of the event’s success: “I am very happy. This is a recognition for my talent, and it is a great feeling. We will do our best to promote the Games.”

“It’s a good thing that sportsmen have been chosen as brand ambassadors. Delhi should do its bit to make sure that the Games make everyone proud,” says Vijender. “These champions have done India proud and will make great ambassadors,” said CWG chairman Suresh Kalmadi.
