The actor, not the filmmaker should make the decision about the former’s career post-marriage, she says. “It should depend on what the woman wants. If a woman is ambitious, then she should continue working, but keeping in mind the Indian culture and tradition and the values with which we are brought up, family becomes our priority post marriage. The decision should be up to her,” says the 26-year-old, who was in the Capital on Thursday to promote her film Cocktail.

The actor feels that if marriage doesn’t affect an actor’s career, it should not affect an actress’s. “People should stop believing that married actresses can’t do well. At the end of the day, it’s an actor’s job to convince the audience. In the West, after marriage too, actresses do all kinds of roles."
