Don’t let the high cut offs of Delhi University (DU) depress you. Next time you are in North Campus, make sure you visit Majnu Ka Tilla, popularly known as the Mini Tibet of Delhi. One of the most popular hangout of DU students, the area is best known for its Tibetan restaurants that offer tempting authentic delights. We take you on a walk through Majnu Ka Tilla.

Go for the Tibetan goods
As soon as you enter the market, the serene environment in the market will welcome you, with echoes of Dalai Lama’s preachings in various shops. Going straight, you will find various street shops lined up on your right that sell everything from colourful tees with slogans such as “Free Tibet”, ‘I love Tibet’, to flip flops and bags ranging from Rs 250 - Rs 300. As you move ahead, you can find shops that sell posters of Tibetan deities for Rs 50 and pendants with ‘I love Tibet’ scribbled on them for Rs 10. Just next to this, you would find a shop selling Chinese and Korean movie CDs and DVDs, which would cost you about Rs 100. Those looking for souvenirs should visit the Handicraft Emporium just opposite to the poster shop. Here, you would get all kinds of Chinese wall hangings and paintings, besides jewellery.

Grab a bite here
This place is a Foodie’s paradise, with a number of eating options. Go for the Tee Dee restaurant, which is located on the first floor of the Tee Dee cyber café . This eatery is not only popular for its momos but also for Gyuma (blood sausages with yak or sheep’s blood and roasted barley flour or rice as filler), which comes for Rs 70. Also try the Dolma house restaurant, which offers a vast variety of Chinese dishes. When here, do try their fried momos (Rs 45), and Chilli Chowmein (Rs 80). Just outside the market on the Chemo lane, you will find the Hot Yak Café, which specializes in a variety of momos, like the Buff Momo (Rs 40), Fried Momo (Rs 50), Swimming Momo (Rs 50). Make sure you try Thenthuk (cold soup with noodles and vegetables) that is offered in different varieties here (Rs 50 - Rs 65).
