Singer-actor Demi Lovato, 18, has reportedly been dating actor Ryan Phillippe for the past few months, but things took a backseat when Phillippe's ex-girlfriend Alexis Knapp gave birth to his child, two weeks ago.

"It was really hot and heavy for a while," a source told E! News, but added that Lovato wasn't aware that the actor was to become a father for the third time "until it basically happened. It kind of threw her for a loop."

Phillippe, who has two children with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon, was with Alexis when she gave birth to their daughter Kai. However, Lovato's spokesperson said, "She has never asked Ryan for any help, nor does she expect it."
