Dog flea market to come to town
Mumbai is getting canine-friendly. After the launch of several stores that cater to man’s best friend, dog lifestyle magazines and even a carnival that saw two pooches tie the knot earlier this month, the city will now play host to a dog flea market.
Mumbai is getting canine-friendly. After the launch of several stores that cater to man’s best friend, dog lifestyle magazines and even a carnival that saw two pooches tie the knot earlier this month, the city will now play host to a dog flea market.

Quarterly feature
To be held four times a year, the urban market called Dog Bazaar will be a basic shopping fest and is being organised by the team behind the magazine, Where’s My Bone (WMB). The first edition, open to pooches, their parents as well as dog lovers, will be held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon (E), on March 27.
“There’s a small section in the magazine called WMB market place. This flea market hopes to take that section forward,” says Apeksha Harihar, editor, WMB. On offer at Dog Bazaar will be confectionaries, grooming sessions, clothes, travel portals and other shopping stalls that sell canine-oriented products. Harihar says, “The USP of the exhibition will be that every vendor will be offering a discount on what he sells. That is our only criteria for giving out the stalls, apart from the fact that they all sell dog products.”
Activities for all
There will also be activities like cookie tasting, on-the-spot quizzes and competitions for people present. “It is a one-day fun event (from 11 am to 9 pm) and visitors will leave with a lot of free shopping goodies given by our sponsor.”
To register for a stall, the organisers have started a Facebook events page called Dog Bazaar and entries are currently being invited for the same.
