From phallic shoes to a prosthetic pregnant tummy — Lady Gaga’s penchant for causing shock and outrage has put the 25-year-old singer in the firing line of critics. “Is she at the edge of glory or in serious danger of over-exposure?” asked USA Today, while US Weekly’s music editor said, “It’s a bit too much. People are getting a little bit tired of the shtick, and it’s feeling a little desperate, actually, like she’s trying too hard.”

The criticism comes in light of Gaga’s latest outrageous antics. Last week, Gaga appeared on the final episode of American Idol wearing a pair of shoes with lucite heels that resembled a penis. Outraged, the show’s producers blurred the heels with the show’s logo. Called ‘porno pumps’, the shoes were designed by British label Void of Course, and cost $4,500.
Unfazed by the flak, on Sunday, the Grammy winner arrived on stage for a performance in England in a gold coffin, wearing a fake pregnant stomach. Even her fans are no longer buying it. "Yikes plastic protruding tummy and a coffin, Gaga has a degree in bad taste," wrote a blogger named Zumba.
