She started her career as a child artiste, but Neetu Singh made her mark as a heroine with Yaadon Ki Baarat. She and Rishi Kapoor acted in several hits of the Seventies and became one of Bollywood’s most popular pairs. She married Rishi when she was at the peak of her career and opted out of films. But now, after more than 20 years, Neetu has made a comeback with Rishi in Do Dooni Chaar.
One word that describes you best?
I am patience personified!
Which superhero would you like to be and why?
More than a superhero, I would like to be Manmohan Singh! He is absolutely great and has been holding India together really well.
If a traffic constable hauls you up, what will you do?
I’ll tell him: “Mein Ranbir Kapoor ki mummy hoon, please mujhe chhod do!” (I am Ranbir Kapoor’s mother, please let me go!)
What makes you feel sexy?
The fact that I still look good at my age.

What did you do with your first pay cheque?
I was just five when I got my first pay cheque, so I didn’t know anything about it!

I don’t believe in breaking laws.
What is the weirdest thing that ever went into your mouth?
An eel. My husband wanted me to try it out.
You are late for work and all the roads are jammed. Choose a mode of transport: a cycle, a horse or a skateboard. Why?
I’ll take the skateboard. It seems to be the safest option and I can just whiz past everything.
Earth’s crowded and full of trash. Choose another planet.
I don’t know which planet, but I’d take the moon since it’s familiar territory for humans now.
If you could be born either rich or intelligent, which one would you choose?
Intelligent, definitely. Can’t be rich and dumb.
What makes your day?
Just staying in touch with my kids on a daily basis.
What screws it up?
If they don’t call me everyday.
