If not an actor, I’d have been a footballer: Ranbir
While the rest of the country watches IPL, the only thing on Ranbir Kapoor’s mind is football. “Football is life for me. I think if I hadn’t become an actor, I would have definitely taken up this sport professionally,” says the 29-year-old actor.
While the rest of the country watches IPL, the only thing on Ranbir Kapoor’s mind is football. “Football is life for me. I think if I hadn’t become an actor, I would have definitely taken up this sport professionally,” says the 29-year-old actor, adding that he has even played the sport at the state level. “I’ve represented my school in the under-16 team football team,” he says.
The actor, who is currently shooting with former girlfriend Deepika Padukone for Ayan Mukherjee’s film, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, in Manali, says that he is a huge fan of FC Barcelona. “I don’t like missing any of their matches. My favourite footballer is Lionel Messi. I got an opportunity to meet him last year, and it was a great experience,” says Ranbir, who is quite eager to visit Brazil for the 2014 Soccer World Cup.
Considering he is such a big fan of the sport, is he keen on acting in a film that involves the game? “I really hope to do a film on football in future. I think sport is still an untapped genre in Indian cinema and there have been very few exciting sport films in Bollywood that have made a mark. I’d definitely want to act in a film based on football if I get a suitable script,” he says.
