Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick confirmed their split on Sunday, August 6, after being together for almost five years. The social media star with 1.9 million followers asked for prayers for both herself and Jason, also declaring a “little break” from social media. “See you soon, bye for now,” wrote Kaitlyn, 38, on her Instagram story. “If everyone can say some sort of prayer for both of our hearts we would love that. I just know social media can be awful so taking a little break,” she wrote. Kaitlyn changed her Instagram bio to “BRB. Healing.”

‘Continuing our friendship is incredibly important'

In a joint Instagram post, the duo has now written on Instagram, “After sharing the news with family and close friends first, and taking the time to properly process it ourselves, we are saddened with heavy hearts to share that we have decided to end our engagement.”

They added, “We are thankful for all of you who gave us the time and space to process this life altering decision as there are many emotions and changes to navigate. Our dogs Ramen & Pinot will continue to be cared for together as brothers. While their humans are no longer romantically involved, we will love and take care of them together.”

“Continuing our friendship is incredibly important to both of us. We feel grateful to be ending our engagement with love and respect for each other. It’s heartbreaking and sad to say goodbye, but our care and admiration for one another will never die. We are beyond thankful for the memories made together, and for your support of us and the boys throughout the years. Moving forward we will always have that level of support for each other. We don’t know what the future holds so please try to hold space for us in your hearts,” the two concluded.

‘Jason and I are so funny’

Before dating Jason, Kaitlyn was engaged to Shawn Booth, the winner of season 11 of ‘The Bachelorette’. The engagement ended in November 2018, three years after Shawn proposed on the reality show. Two months after the separation, Kaitlyn began dating Jason.

Kaitlyn and Jason began dating in January 2019, after he appeared as a guest on her podcast, ‘Off the Vine.’ After dating for two years, Jason proposed in May 2021, but the two struggled to finalise the wedding date.

Describing how they faced difficulty due to having very different choices, Kaitlyn said, "Jason and I are so funny. Like, if we talk about a venue — we actually have such different styles, different tastes, different everything that it’s almost frustrating.”

"I’ll be like, ‘I’m in love with this venue and it’s perfect and it’s open.’ And he’ll be like, ‘Oh, no, that’s no. That’s not the style we’re going for at all.’”

Amid the wedding delays, the former couple fueled divorce rumours when Kaitlyn was photographed without her engagement ring while on a beach trip. Days later, she posted a crying selfie, with the caption, “Just know that the highlights are mostly posted about. You’re not alone in your struggles.”
