SAYALIRecent claim by beauty queen turned actress Sayali Bhagat - that her affair with Sania's fiancé and Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik was just a publicity stunt - makes one wonder about the truth behind Bollywood's 'short-lived affairs'. Are these liaisons only a publicity gimmick or for real? Let's get to the bottom of this mystery.

Remember the much talked about 'relationship' of Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapur? Or that Rab Ne... girl Anushka Sharma is the latest girl Sasha has the hots for? Blindly believe these stories at your own risk, for B-town residents operate in a world all their own .

Take the case of a picture-perfect marriage running into troubled waters. You guessed it right; we are talking about Hrithik and Susanne. Hrithik and his Kites co-star Barbara Mori's off-screen chemistry could obviously not go down well with Hrithik's wife. But just when we thought that the couple has broken off, they were spotted canoodling in a restaurant in New York. The industry sources at that time smelled rat and indicated that the affair was fabricated for publicity, but media chose to ignore the revelation and concentrated on the link-up bit.

The 'it' couple Ranbir and Katrina, while shooting for Rajkumar Santoshi's Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani also hogged newsprint for their increasing closeness.. We wonder why Salman Khan sat with a firm finger on his lips. Was he practicing 'maun-vrat' or was he meditating? On the other hand Deepika fell into the gossip-trap and broke up with beau Ranbir. Is the Kapoor boy repentant that he agreed to let the rumour circulate?

Can it be possible that Salman Khan, who is used to seeing his name linked up with every other heroine, probably lets directors use his reputation for gaining quick publicity? That's how Asin decorates her walls with Salman's posters, allegedly gifted by Salman. And when their London Dreams bombs at the box-office, news of fissure between the two surfaces..

Do they really care if their real life lovers get hurt in the process?

But there are some celebs who refuse to resort to to the link-up route to promote their films. Among them Shah Rukh Khan's name emerges prominently. But that is probably because he is a bigger brand than any other banner or actor. Aamir Khan too is very creative with marketing plans to promote his film and doesn't resort to sleazy ways.

1. Malaika-Arbaaz's divorce for the promotion of a cosmetic brand
2. Ranbir-Katrina's whirlwind romance for the promotion of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani
3. Akshay-Priyanka romance rumour that led to the ban on the couple doing films together, by former's wife Twinkle
4. Amitabh, Rekha romance during Silsila days
5. Bipasha, Saif affair during the shooting of Race

1. Shah Rukh Khan
2. Aamir Khan
3. Kajol Devgn
