The 50-year-old singer desired a doll modelled after her, similar to supermodel Heidi Klum’s immortalisation as part of toy firm Mattel’s ‘Blonde Ambition´ collection, Mirror reported.
The singer phoned Mattel with the idea of a ‘Madonna Barbie´ which would celebrate her contribution to the world of music, but was turned down because of her controversial image.
“The company, however has ruled out against the idea in case of a public backlash from consumers who disapprove of the star’s sexy image,” sources in the company said.
Insiders however feel that that move would not trigger Madonna to step back from her motive.
“Madonna is used to getting what she wants, so she is now thinking about launching her own doll collection to rival Barbie,” says an insider.
