Manoj Kumar undergoes successful surgery on 76th b'day
On his 76th bithday veteran Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar underwent a gall bladder surgery at a hospital in Mumbai today. The hospital director confimed that he is doing fine.Updated: Jul 24, 2013 16:12 IST
Veteran Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar successfully underwent a gall bladder surgery at a suburban hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday, which happens to be his 76th birthday.
Kumar was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital in suburban Andheri a few days back, following pain and swelling in gall bladder.
“The surgery went well, it was successful and he is doing fine,” said hospital director Ram Narain. The surgery lasted for over an hour.
Kumar is known for acting and directing films with patriotic themes. He is fondly referred to as Bharat Kumar.
The actor has given memorable performances in films such as Purab aur Paschim, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, Shor, Woh Kaun Thi, Kranti and Do Badan.
In 1992, he was honoured with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India.
