The 19-year-old singer-actress was left fuming when one follower told her she "dresses like white trash" and urged her "to die", reported Daily Mail online.

After seeing the vile messages, Cyrus replied, "You have nothing better to do than hate? That saddens me. I'm surrounded by love. I'm sorry for whatever happened to make you so bitter. I won't tolerate someone telling me to die."

Cyrus went on to urge Twitter chiefs to take action against users who post nasty comments."I think Twitter needs to take some responsibility and make it a safe environment," she wrote
