as he woke up on Monday, to news reports that he would be tying the knot with long-time girlfriend Shivangi Dev sometime soon.

“It [the wedding] will definitely not be before one and half years,” he says and adds, “Yusuf is older, so he’ll get married first.”

Even in an earlier interview to us (when the Pathan brothers were in Delhi just leaving for IPL in South Africa), Irfan had made it clear that “bhai” would be the one getting married first. He went on to say that reports about the ‘date or venue’ of the wedding, as circulated by some sections of the media are ‘completely false’.

He does, however, confirm that he intends to get married to Shivangi, an Australia-based Chartered Accountant whose father is with the Indian Embassy in Australia. “We will get married but not right now,” he said, adding that both the families are happy with their alliance.

Kyaaa?...nahiii!!
As news of upcoming nuptials began to spread, Irfan’s female fans were heartbroken and distraught.

Sumana Chakraborty, a web content developer, changed her Orkut status message to read: “Love is lost... Irfan Pathan is tying the knot.” “Love is still love, and heartbreak is still heartbreak. Irfan plz dont marry,” wrote anamus.

Mallika Sinha, a PR executive is heartbroken but says she’s “happy for him.”

No doubt confirmations about the delay in the final ceremony will bring some solace to these souls.
