In an attempt to help the cause of underprivileged kids, a car rally is being held in the city today. The Gulf ‘Foster A Child Car Drive’, is back this year in its 10th edition.

Over 60 families are expected to participate, along with orphans from Our Lady’s Home in Dadar and Shraddhanand Mahilashram in Matunga. “These kids do not get an opportunity to live in luxury. Little privileges bring smiles to their faces. This is one day we ensure that these orphans receive special attention. They become foster children to participants from well-to-do families,” says Ravi Chawla, president, Gulf Oil.

The rally will flag off from Parel, and end at Dukes Retreat & Key Resorts, Khandala. According to Chawla, each family will be represented by a parent and a child per car, along with a kid from the participating NGOs. It will be a 155 km drive to Khandala, where some games and activities will be organised for the kids.

“Although we cannot influence anyone to adopt these kids, through this rally, people can treat them as their own children for a day. To see these homeless orphans who are deprived of even basic comforts smile for even one day is a great feeling and makes your weekend more worthwhile,” says Chawla. The rally will flag off from Our Lady’s Home, Parel, at 9 am today.
