Rekha attends Vidya Balan's Mehendi ceremony

Rekha and Vidya Balan are known to be very close and hail from Chennai. After the ceremony, Vidya stepped out with her parents and elder sister and held up her hands to show her mehendi to the waiting media.

Vidya Balan will get hitched to UTV honcho Siddharth Roy Kapur today in a private wedding ceremony to be held at Mumbai’s Sri Subramania Samaj temple.

On Wednesday, Vidya had a mehendi ceremony at her home, which was attended only by her family.

One celebrity spotted at the function was veteran actor Rekha, who arrived with vermillion (sindoor) in her hair parting, traditionally a mark of married Hindu women.

The two are known to be very close and Vidya has often said that she admires the legendary actor, who like her, also hails from Chennai.

After the ceremony, Vidya stepped out with her parents and elder sister and held up her hands to show her mehendi to the waiting media.

The actor was dressed in a Bengali style Sabyasachi Mukherjee sari paired with pearl ornaments. At the wedding, she will wear two saris since there’s a change in sari for rituals at Tamil marriages.

Sabyasachi has designed the saris in warm-shaded silk sourced from Chennai.
