AR Rahman, criticised for his Commonwealth Games theme song, now has another supporter. Well-known Indian classical dance personalities (including Pandit Birju Maharaj, Saroj Vaidhyanathan, Raja Reddy, Sonal Mansingh, Guru Singhajit and Bharati Shivaji) who were to perform on his tune, refused to do so.

In Rahman’s support, Shekhar tweeted, “It’s impossible to compose a song for a government committee, don’t blame Rahman till you give him the creative freedom.” He added, “Jai Ho was rejected by none other than Subhash Ghai and many others before it became the biggest international hit of last year.”
