“It was always my favourite festival. I liked everything about it — the colours, the water, the balloons... you name it,” she says. Being from an army background, the actress has celebrated Holi at various places in the country, depending on where her father was posted at the time.

“My mother used to oil me up from head to toe in the morning. Then, my friends and I would go from one friend’s house to another to pull them out and smear them with colours. We’d get into a big army truck and go to the mess for lunch with more liquor and snacks,” she says.

The festival is no longer the same for her, however. “Holi now isn’t as good as it used be. I’m going to be in Mumbai, not with my family. So it’ll be a more Bollywood Holi,” says the actress.

Thankfully, being back in Mumbai doesn’t mean she’s on duty today. “No one should ever have to work on Holi; it’s such a fantastic festival,” she says.
