Vivek Oberoi definitely started the New Year with a bang. It’s an open secret that the Mumbai police abruptly stalled the actor’s dance performance at the Wilson College Gymkhana on New Year’s eve. But that wasn’t the only grudge the actor had. Due to the cancellation and confusion, Vivek couldn’t even make it back to Bangalore in time to spend the rest of the night with his wife, Priyanka.

The actor was supposed to reach Bangalore by 2 am on January 1 to meet Priyanka, who was already in Bangalore bringing in 2012 with her family. “But due to the incident, Vivek couldn’t take the flight he had originally booked tickets for. So instead, he only reached Bangalore early in the morning on January 1 after taking a late night flight,” says a member of Vivek’s troupe.

The Shootout At Lokhandwala (2007) actor had reached the venue in Mumbai by 4 pm on December 31, following which he rehearsed for about four hours with his troupe. Says Vivek, “It was quite disheartening for my troupe and I as we had worked really hard for my performance. My fans were disappointed and so was I for not being able to

Amidst all that confusion, the actor was only allowed to step on stage for about 15 minutes. Reportedly, at around 9.45 pm, the police had arrived at the venue to check if the organisers had got the required documents. But they realised that they didn’t have the police’s permission for the speakers installed at the venue.

It is believed that the upset crowd began throwing beverages, chairs and empty water bottles at the stage. The show, which was supposed to go on for an hour, eventually wound up in 15 minutes.
