Will Sarkar Raj prove lucky for Big B-Varma combination?
Though his last two films with director Ram Gopal Varma bombed at the box office, Amitabh Bachchan says nobody has challenged him more as an actor than Verma.
Though his last two films with director Ram Gopal Varma bombed at the box office, mega star Amitabh Bachchan today said nobody has challenged him more as an actor than Verma.

"My earlier films with him,
Nishabd
and
Aag
, received a lot of harsh criticism from critics and audiences. But as an actor both were challenging roles for me. Nobody has challenged me more as an actor than Ramu," Bachchan said at a press conference to unveil the first look for the film 'Sarkar Raj'.
The film, a sequel to the hit
Sarkar
directed by Varma, has Bachchan, his son Abhishek and daughter-in law Aishwarya starring in it. The film is scheduled to release on June 6.
Sarkar Raj
is a tribute to the spirit, strength and guts of the filmmaker who has made this film despite the criticism he has received in the past, Bachchan said.
"When you hit a person when he is down and out, he is going to stand up only if he is really good," Bachchan said.
Varma also took the opportunity to praise the actor and said Bachchan enjoyed a following among all age groups.
"Audiences had said I should not have done
Nishabd
and
Aag
but he still put his trust in me. I thought I could play around with his face to amuse myself. I am sorry Amitji for misplacing your trust," Varma said.
Varma also took the opportunity to say
Sarkar Raj
was a fictional script and had no connection with any living person.
"When you make a realistic film there will be elements or characters in real life from whom you can draw an inference. This is purely a psychological aspect," he said.
The function coincided with the first wedding anniversary of Abhishek and Aishwarya, who also participated in the press conference through video conferencing.
Abhishek is shooting for a Karan Johar production in Miami and Aishwarya had joined him for the anniversary, sources added.
