8 Miss India lehengas for minimalist brides who want a modern look

These lehengas designed by Abu Jani and Sandip Khosla and modelled by Miss India 2018 contestants are for every woman who’s ever wondered, “What about a bridal lehenga that’s less wedding-y?”

Let’s face it, a lot of wedding lehengas are extravagant. From shimmery bead work to intricate hand-embroidered detailing, many lehengas come with a lot of adornment.

And that’s okay. As a bride, you should indulge and be true to your personal style by choosing a wedding look that makes you feel ‘you’ on your big day. If that means decking yourself in all the glitz and glamour an ornate lehenga has to offer, do it.

But what about the bride who prefers things simple? If your vision of your wedding day lehenga is less embellishment and more zero fuss, you’re a minimalist bride. And for you that means finding a simple lehenga that still makes a very big statement.

Enter the stunning lehengas that designers Abu Jani and Sandip Khosla created for Miss India 2018 contestants. The festive looks shared by the duo on Instagram convinced us that a simple lehenga can have more impact than one that is bedecked in rhinestones or layers of fabric. These modern-meets-classy lehengas are technically not bridal, but are a great alternative, if, A) You want to showcase your figure in a way that is subtly sexy, B) You want something you know you can wear again.

Speaking of which, going for a simple wedding lehenga doesn’t mean you’re restricted to mermaid silhouettes, some of these designs offer voluminous shapes with a simple aesthetic (via clean and modern blouses). What’s more? Some of the lehengas also involve an expert use of colour, from monochrome looks to a pops of red and pink that elevate the look.
