Fashion weeks in India are not just about the collection anymore. It’s all about drama, special effects and celebrity presence.

Recently, during the Chanel Show in Paris Fashion Week, designer Karl Lagerfeld left the audience awestruck by placing a 265-ton iceberg on the ramp, imported all the way from Sweden. Taking a leaf out of that, Delhi designers too are gearing up for the upcoming Wills India Lifestyle Fashion Week, which will be held from March 24-28 at NSIC exhibition complex in Okhla, with thematic decorations.

The infrastructure here, of course, wouldn’t support an iceberg, feels designer Reynu Taandon, but her show will still be dramatic with “a graphically digital stage décor”.

Designer Nida Mahmood, says, “There will be lot of drama in my show, as my theme is Sadak Chhaap, which is inspired by scraps. The PCO booth and the funny English written on it might be one of the props as I haven’t decided on them as yet.”

Designer JJ Valaya says, “My set will be as much of an experience as the collection.”
While designer Tarun Tahiliani says he is doing a “dark Persian garden”, Pallavi Mohan is going with an Alice in Wonderland theme with “five characters from the book who will not be the models, the entire forest backdrop with the rabbit and my showstopper will be Alice!” Drama will unfold on the ramp this time, for sure.
