Flaunt a perfectly tied sari at your freshers’ party by opting for these classes in the city
Out of the many courses taught here, sari draping is one of the most popular. Classes in both traditional and contemporary styles are on offer, and include knowledge on basics like how to pin up the pleats and pallu. They also teach you how to wear two saris and make it into a dress. The course can either be a day long or two days, depending on how long students take to grasp the knowledge of the styles.

These classes in sari draping have been in existence for the past 20 years. Helmed by expert Indu Somani, there are courses in Bengali, Maharani, double border, chanya choli and Coorgi styles of draping. Only five to 10 students are inducted in one class. There is no age limit and the three-day classes are quite popular with young girls. The students have to get their own saris and after a demo session, have to drape the sari themselves. These classes specialise in 15 types of draping styles that include horizontal pallu, free falling, V-style pallu, modern Coorgi and mermaid among many other styles. Usually conducted on weekends, the classes last for three days, with each session being one and a half hours long. Also, for special occasions, they conduct customised sari draping classes that can be arranged on request. Apart from this, you can also opt for makeup courses the place offers. Sari draping classes at this institute are held for two days, usually over the weekends. “It’s a two hour class where we teach 10 different styles of draping," says Shweta Jain, the instructor. The styles taught include Bengali, Rajasthani, Mermaid and Mumtaz style. They take five students per class. .

Sari draping classes are being conducted here for four years now. The trainer focuses on the type of fabric and consequently teaches the suitable draping style. Out of the 21 styles taught here, popular ones include Oriya, air-hostess, seedha pallu and Bengali styles. The course lasts for a week and a two hour class is conducted everyday.
