Frieda Pinto, a model and anchor before she hit the big league with Slumdog Millionaire, is the newest face of India in the West — maybe she has knocked Aishwarya Rai off her pedestal; definitely, she has displayed a much better fashion sense than Ash’s early outings in Cannes.

“The star has been dazzling us with her style,” gushed mirror.co.uk. “She’s been sizzling in gowns from Zac Posen, Christian Lacroix and Derek Lam. The blue grecian Marchesa gown she wore to the Screen Actors Guild was a triumph and we can’t wait to see what she wears to the Oscars.”

Starstruck
Even a star like Frieda has her starry-eyed moments. She wished to meet Clint Eastwood after watching Million Dollar Baby. But when she did meet him at a show, she “got tongue-tied”. When Jolie spoke to her at the SAG awards, Frieda could only stare “in awe for a bit”. Jolie, she says, “was really wonderful to talk to and very supportive of newcomers.” Frieda also has a special place in her heart for Leonardo DiCaprio. She confesses she “fantasised about him, had a crush on him”, ever since Titanic. “The crush is gone,” she says, “but the admiration is still there”.
