At the India Couture Week 2018, Falguni and Shane Peacock talk about how they’ve designed dresses for celebrities like Kareena Kapoor Khan to Beyonce and Lady Gaga.

At the Hindustan Times and Sunil Sethi Design Alliance’s India Couture Week 2018, the inspiration behind designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock’s collection was the saga of a Parisian queen visiting the dazzling Junagarh Palace in Rajasthan where a mela was being organized in her honour. With Kareena Kapoor Khan as their showstopper, they stayed true to their signature style of feathers and glittery ensemble, but took it further with bold metallic hues.

“I just thought let everyone have an out of world experience and we wanted to have a surreal plus a relatable look and we wanted everyone to remember the show. Having Kareena was really an icing on the cake,” said Falguni.

“I think everything was just so perfect- the lighting, the sets and the models. We wanted everything to be relatable, which is why we wanted her to wear a lehenga and not a gown,” added Shane.

And how do they manage to dress international stars right from Beyonce to Britney Spears?

“We’ve got very international sensibilities, and from Beyonce to Lady Gaga, and recently we just had dinner with Tony Braxton. Nicki Minaj also was wearing something which had been designed by us,” said Falguni.

Falguni and Shane keep showcasing their collection abroad, and this was their debut couture show in India. Their collection comprised dazzling skirts, lehengas with long trains, a bodycon jumpsuit and gowns in shades of gold, silver, dust rose, cream and copper.

India Couture Week, presented by Hindustan Times and Sunil Sethi Design Alliance, will be on from July 25 to July 29, in Delhi.
