Manish Malhotra in Lakme's Grande Finale
Leading fashion designer Manish Malhotra will showcase Lakme Fashion Week's (LFW) winter fashion statement for 2007, it was announced Tuesday.
"Manish will bring alive his unique individual interpretation of Lakme's fashion statement for the winter 2007, with Lakme's expert panel of stylists and make-up artistes," said an LFW spokesperson.
Introducing the new face of Lakme Fashion Week, Amrita Maghera, at a press meet here Wednesday, LFW spokesperson Puja Trehan said: "We are thrilled to introduce Amrita Maghera as the new face of Lakme. She not only possesses all the qualities of the free sprit of woman unrestrained, she also embodies creativity, sophistication and sensuality of a mysterious woman."
Meghera is a Britain-based Indo-British model, actress, singer and dancer.
"Amrit has performed live on stage at London, Astoria, Birmingham NEC, Wembley Arena, on television for MTV and with international artists such as Kayne West, Guns and Roses and Body Rockers," Trehan said.
"A surprise to this dance diva is the melodious voice and her recent record deal with EMI. Also, she has and modelled in London for brands such as Miss Sixty, Satya Paul, Skechers, and Nokia."
Malhotra said: "I'm elated to be associated with Lakme Fashion Week - an event that has set certain benchmarks for the fashion industry.
"LFW is truly the opportune platform to showcase contemporary style, fashion and beauty. It's a matter of great honour to be selected as the Lakme Grand Finale designer at India's celebrated fashion extravaganza that reaches out to national and international audiences."
LFW's Winter "Free Sprit" range designed to highlight the India woman's features and skin tone in two different moods - by day and by night would be showcased at the Lakme Grand Finale 2008 shows through the creative expression of Malhotra Oct 17, 2007 at the NCPA in Mumbai, Trehan said.
LFW, a joint initiative by Lakme and IMG, is organised twice every year. LFW Spring Summer 2008 will be held Oct 13-17, 2007 at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) here.
