Designer Suneet Varma plans to lure the audience this Fashion Week with his Oriental creations. The designer gave us a sneak peek into his collection, Lure of the Orient, at F Bar & Lounge, hotel Ashoka. Varma has been inspired by the clothing trends that were popular during the period of colonisation in countries like Burma, Thailand, Singapore, China and Indonesia.

"I want people to look at the positive side of colonisation. Their rich and vibrant culture, if blended, is a beautiful source of inspiration," says the designer. He adds, "I have picked up an art motif from one country, a colour from another and the silhouette from yet another."

Hence there are padded jackets, ties, Anglo-French tailcoats, Brit tweed waistcoats., corsets, Chinese gold leaf and orchid motifs and peasant shirts in vibrant hues like red, purple, gold, black, brown, white, deep maroon and teal.
