IMG is really smart. Positioning the Lakmé Fashion Week right after the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week and Delhi Fashion Week has made the media, buyers and fraternity members value it more. The organised manner in which shows were conducted, stalls placed and guests looked after is, to be appreciated.

Barbie’s birthday celebrations saw desi designers come up with outfits for the doll and Barbie-like models sashay down the ramp in them. Walushca Robinson wore a pink and silver outfit.. Vikram Phadnis’s creation A swatch of cloth fell off when Robinson took the first round. And another when she took the last round with her cherubic daughter Chanel. What would have happened if Robinson had taken 10 rounds? Don’t even think about it!

Twist to tradition

The evening’s best were the designs by Asmita Marwa. Every garment had a twist.. think traditional saris with a checkered frill. Or low-back kurtis worn with a racer Tee. And kurtis in net. At Manish Malhotra’s show, actress Genelia D’Souza paraded the show stopper outfit, clutching her lehenga and perhaps muttering a prayer so that she wouldn’t tumble. That’s when one realised that being a model is no easy walk!
