In the second of a three-part series on the latest hairstyles for women, here are some easy styles that those with mid-length hair can follow — for work, parties or just casual meetings with friends.

Keeping it casual
If you have curly hair, scrunching is the easiest way to make it look presentable.

On damp hair, apply a leave-in product depending on your hair type, and then either just scrunch it or twirl it by taking sections and twisting each of them separately.

Now, to add a little twist, take two adjacent sections from the top of the ears. Twist them lightly taking them to the back of the head and tie two knots. Use pins to keep in place.

Time to party
Take the top section and backcomb it to make a puff.

Then make a ponytail to any one side.

Divide the ponytail into two parts and twist them both to one side (clockwise).

Take the two twisted sections and start inter-twisting them with one another (anti-clockwise). The direction of the twisting of the section is very important to attain the desired look.

Once the twisting is complete, lock it with a thin black rubber band.

This forms a braid-like twist to one side. Now hold the end of the twist and take it around itself to form a bun and use U-pins to secure the bun in place.

Working it
Backcomb the top section to make a puff.

Now very simply just tie a ponytail to any one side.

This helps in keeping your hair away from your face and being simple and neat at the same time.

Expert Tip
A stylist always insists on using a leave-in product (along with a serum if necessary) for mid-length to long hair.

The hairstyles have been put together by the team at Muah Salon, Bandra, with Extra Mile Café, which organises workshops on hairstyling.
