Sonam Kapoor to Kim Kardashian: How to join the celebs’ braid brigade
Take some inspo from fashion-forward celebs and rock your braid game.fashion and trends Updated: Feb 15, 2016 15:18 IST
Reminisce your good ol’ school days by revisiting braids. We are not talking about those plain Jane dual plaits that you used to make after centre-parting your tresses, but stylish braided hairstyles that will make you the envy of all the ladies in town. Take inspiration from our Bollywood beauties to ace the look.
While actors Sonam Kapoor and Yami Gautam adorned chic braided updos, actors Shruti Haasan and Kriti Sanon went for half-tied braided styles. Reality TV star Kim Kardashian and actor Demi Moore also gave us serious braid goals. Take note!
We love actor Sonam Kapoor’s multiple braid updo. Divide your crown area into two sections with the help of a side part. Make two-three braids for each section and tie rest of the hair in a neat bun above your nape.
Actor Kriti Sanon wears her hair down but styles it with a braid. Leave your flicks loose and braid the front section of your hair. Pin up your braided tresses at the back. You can also make a low-back pouf to add some volume.
Actor Shruti Haasan went for the very retro, good ol’ milkmaid braid. Centre-part your hair and do a milkmaid braid of the top half section. Curl the remaining section into big Hollywood curls and you’re ready to rock!
Actor Kim Kardashian killed it with her sectioned braided hair game. Centre part your hair. Take one section and make two braids. Merge the two braids from the starting of your neck area. Repeat the process for the other section.
Actor Yami Gautam looks a vintage beauty in her braided updo. Side part your hair and braid front sections of your hair on either side. Finish off with a bun at the back. You can also make a side bun, with a few strands escaping.
Actor Demi Moore has still got swag. We love her experiment with a top knot. Instead of making a simple knot at the top, she first braided the entire length and then made a bun out of it. A few loose strands lent her a flirty look.
Braids also made their way to the runways of the recent Haute Couture week in Paris.
For Maison Margiela’s runway hairstyle, centre-part your hair. Braid the two sections in such a way that your braid rests on your hairline. Leave a few strands out of the braid for a messy look.
For the bohemian hairstyle at Valentino’s show, soft curl your hair from your ear length onwards. Braid a section above each ear. Cross them at the back of your head and secure with bobby pins. Now, randomly braid 4-5 sections of the rest of the hair.
