Storing bridal outfits is perhaps as huge a task as wearing them on your D-day.

Here are a few tips to make the task easier.

Wash carefully: Washing silk fabrics with water and detergent makes them lose their stiffness and fades the colours as the excess dye is washed away. Dry cleaning works best for bridal sarees and lehengas because it increases their durability.

Act fast: Make sure to remove stains on your bridal outfit immediately. If you wait for long, some stains could get permanent and ruin the fabric.
Iron with care: While ironing your bridal garments, place a piece of light fabric over it so that it absorbs excess heat from the iron. Though this ironing process may take long, but it will ensure that there is no more than negligible harm to the garment.

Wrap it well: Wrap the bridal outfit in an acid-free tissue paper while storing. This will ensure that the zari embroidery on the outfit will remain as it is and not get oxidised or darker over time.

No sunshine: While storing do not expose your bridal outfit to direct sunlight and air, because it can make the gold thread embroidery appear black after some time.
