19-year-old held for rape of minor girl

The girl was raped when there was no one else at her house on Friday, said Seema, sub-inspector, the investigation officer in the case. An FIR was registered under Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Friday and the accused was arrested later in the day. “The girl’s medical examination was done and her statement has been recorded before a magistrate,” the SI said.

Around 1.30pm on Friday, the girl, a native of Bihar, was alone at her house in Naharpur Rupa village when the suspect, who works with a private company, allegedly raped her. While the suspect was allegedly assaulting the girl, her brother came to the house and the accused fled, police said.

The girl’s brother called their father and told him about the rape and asked him to return home at the earliest. When he reached home, the girl told him that the neighbour had threatened her and raped her when she was alone. The girl’s father then approached police and filed a complaint. The accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
