Speaking on health and well-being, he said, “The secret to being healthy is to keep your mind and heart clean, the rest is looked after.”

The Medanta GI Endoscopy department has five endoscopy suits specially equipped for early cancer detection, cancer staging and management. “One percent of India's population undergoes endoscopies every year. Here, at Medanta itself, we conduct 50-60 endoscopy procedures every day,” said Dr Randhir Sud, chairperson of the Institute of Digestive and Heapatobiliary Sciences at Medanta.

The facility includes a range of diagnostic and therapeutic GI endoscopic procedures like treatment of intestinal bleeds, GI polyps, cancer, stones and strictures.

In addition, the unit has also started the SHE -- safety, hygiene and efficiency -- concept. "This process ensures that patients don't acquire or transmit infection during the treatment. We are the first to have this kind of facility with a patient oriented concept," added Sud.

The unit also houses the Medanta Endo-Gurukul that gives gastroenterologists and surgeons hands-on experience with the latest technology.
