DTC employee rapes woman for 9 years, arrested

A 56-year-old man was arrested on Saturday night for allegedly raping a 45-year-old woman from the last nine years on the pretext of marriage.

A 56-year-old man was arrested on Saturday night for allegedly raping a 45-year-old woman from the last nine years on the pretext of marriage.

The accused, identified as Ramesh Kumar, is an employee of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).

According to the police, the victim used to work as a domestic help and lived on rent in the accused's house. She hails from Uttar Pradesh, said a police official. The woman filed a complaint at the Gurgaon police station, alleging that the accused had been raping her from the past nine years, on the pretext of marriage.She claimed that Kumar, a resident of Sukhrali, had even forced her out of his house and threatened her with dire consequences.

The accused was produced before a duty magistrate on Sunday, following which he was sent to Bhondsi jail, the official said.

The police said Kumar had been married twice.His first wife died years ago, while the second lived in her hometown. "When his second wife returned home, he asked the victim to leave the house immediately. When she resisted, he threatened her," said the police.

"On the basis of the victim's complaint, we arrested the accused on Saturday night. He is a Class 4 employee with the DTC," said an official at the Sector 18 police station.
