Get a taste of delicacies from both new and old Delhi in Gurgaon this weekend
A two-day food festival is being organised this weekend in Gurgaon that brings the best of the Delhi cuisine but also the traditional culinary fare that is native to old Delhi.
Foodies take note! The city will play host to a two-day food festival this weekend that not only aims to bring the best of the Delhi cuisine to Gurgaon residents but also revive an interest in the traditional culinary fare that is native to old Delhi.
With the up and coming sectors in the city lacking quality eating places, the event will present an opportunity for residents to sample the culinary delights that Delhi has to offer. The fest would dish out a salivating fare, with popular eating addresses including Natraj Dahi Bhalle Wala, Chicken Changezi, Lotan Matar Kulche, Pandit Ji Paranthe Wale, JB Kachori Wala and Kuremal Mohan Lal Kulfi Wale putting up stalls at the event. The event will promote local artists and a soiree will be held to add to the ambience.
Titled Purani Dilli Ka Khana (food from old Delhi), the event is being organised by a group of residents at DLF Garden City at the sports complex in Sector 91. The organisers hope that the event will draw more than 1,000 visitors from the city, especially from the up and coming sectors — 84 to 91.
Apart from offering the best of Delhi cuisine, the event will also have local artists showcasing such items as clothing, jewellery, handicrafts and furniture.
The residents said they simply can’t wait for the festival to kick off.
“We are excited about this festival and look forward to sampling the delicacies of old Delhi,” Rahul Gupta, a resident of Vatika India Next, said.
“I moved to Gurgaon only recently and have been missing the old Delhi food. This event will provide an opportunity to tuck into some the dishes that I haven’t had for a while. I can’t wait to enjoy the flavours of old Delhi,” Pooja Garg, a resident of DLF Garden City, said.
Another resident, Rekha Sood, said, “Another highlight of the festival will be the local artistes who will perform at the musical event.”
