Gurgaon: 1 killed, 10 hurt in factory cylinder blast

A 22-year-old man was killed and 10 people were injured on Friday morning when a gas cylinder exploded in an aluminum factory near Bilaspur. The incident took place around 10am at Alicon Castalloy Ltd in Bhoda Kala on National Highway 8.

A 22-year-old man was killed and 10 people were injured on Friday morning when a gas cylinder exploded in an aluminum factory near Bilaspur.

The incident took place around 10am at Alicon Castalloy Ltd in Bhoda Kala on National Highway 8. The labourers were rushed to a private hospital, where one was declared dead, two critical and others out of danger.

The deceased, Ram Babu, was a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Allahabad. His body was mutilated in the blast, police said. His body has been sent to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The company manufactures spare parts for automobile companies. The incident took place when a spark from the casting unit came in contact with a gas cylinder. The management and the workers were asked to immediately move out and the fire brigade rushed to the spot.

“A police team is investigating whether LPG is allowed to be used in factories,” assistant commissioner of police (Manesar) Bir Singh said.
