These roads, carpeted just a couple of months ago, narrate the indifferent attitude of the administration. Now, the administration has assured the people that it will get the roads repaired after monsoon.

All the main roads in the Millennium City like the one near Ardee City in Sector 40 and near MG Road Metro station in Sector 44 are damaged.

Residents allege that poor quality material had been used in the carpeting work.

“If it continues to rain for a week, one can imagine what will be the condition of roads,” said Manish Mathur of Ardee City.

“The authorities took up the carpeting work when the monsoon was about to arrive. As the roads were just recently re-laid, they could not bear the showers,” said Vipul Khanna of Sushant Lok I.

Santosh Singh of Sector 15 said, “The government earns 47 per cent of its total revenue from Gurgaon. But it has always neglected the area. In the past one year, potholes were repaired twice. But one shower is enough to damage the roads — thanks to the poor quality of materials used”.

The city received 28mm rainfall on Tuesday and 200mm on Wednesday.

A senior Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) official said, “We are yet to start the carpeting work. We have just started filling the potholes.”

In January, deputy commissioner PC Meena had told residents that if the service provider or department concerned was not responding to their requests regarding poor condition of roads or sanitation, residents could file a case in the court of a sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) under Section 133 of the Cr PC. The SDM can issue ‘absolute order’ after which an FIR can be lodged against the officer or the agency responsible. Cases can also be filed against government departments such as Huda, Municipal Corporation Gurgaon (MCG), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Public Works Department.
