The new service, Smart Ride, is expected to ease inter-city commutation. A total of 17 buses will cover various destinations at an interval of 10-20 minutes. The vehicles will ferry passengers from 7:30am to 11am and from 4pm to 8pm daily.

Though the Gurgaon-Dwarka service was launched on Tuesday, a fleet of buses has already been ferrying corporate employees within Gurgaon since November 2010.

According to the operator, Wise Travel India Private Limited (WTIPL), the service is meant for corporate employees and the buses will drop passengers near the gate of their respective offices.

The company has also initiated talks with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to operate buses from metro stations.

Ashok Vashsiht, chief executive officer of WTIPL, said, “Smart Ride is an initiative in Gurgaon supported by DLF and Cyber City Welfare Society to help create a regular connectivity between Gurgaon and Dwarka.”

“Smart Ride aims to provide comfortable, safe and reliable services, leveraging the best available technology and green transport,” said Vashist.

The buses will have flexible stoppage allowing those using monthly pass or flexi coupon to board any bus.

All the vehicles are fitted with GPS tracking devices and web cameras.

Some major locations to be covered by the service include Dwarka Sector 9 and Sector 21 Metro stations, Kapashera, Unitech Info Space, Cyber City, Iffco Chowk, and Udyog Vihar.
