Gurgaon gang rape: Special probe team formed, sketch of one accused released
On Friday night, the victim had watched a movie with her friend in Connaught Place, after which the two had taken a cab to go home. The police are now questioning the victim’s friend to verify the sequence of events that followed.
Gurgaon police on Monday constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the alleged gang rape of a woman in a moving car on Friday night.

The woman was abducted by three men from near her residence in Sukhrali village in Gurgaon and dumped in Delhi on Saturday morning.
Police released the sketch of one of the suspects prepared from details provided by the victim. Attempts were being made to find out the exact route taken by the Swift Dzire vehicle in which the alleged rape took place.
Gurgaon police commissioner Sandeep Khirwar said the police were working on some clues but did not share details.“Investigation is on. Things will become clearer soon”, he said.
Police questioned the survivor’s male friend, who was with her on Friday night, to reconstruct the sequence of events before the crime. They said the man was asked to join investigation but as he failed to appear, they had to detained him for questioning. He is still in police custody.
An FIR was lodged at the sector 18 police station under section 376-D (gang rape), 365 (kidnapping), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The man, who lives in Delhi’s Shahdara, had watched a movie with the 26-year old victim at Connaught Place on Friday night after which they had taken a cab around 2 am to go home.
The victim said she was abducted and raped by three men shortly after she got down near her home in Sukhrali.
The police commissioner said the abduction took place between 2.40 and 2.45 am. She was later dumped near Najafgarh but found by Delhi Police near Chawla at 6.45 am.
The victim said in her complaint that a Delhi police official, whom she met on Saturday morning at Sirhaul border, helped her reach the police station.
Gurgaon police said they were scanning CCTV footage from different sources to identify the car used in the crime. Sumit Kuhar, deputy commissioner of police (crime), said different teams are working to crack the case.
The Gurgaon police SIT will be led by Sumit Kuhar, DCP (crime). Other members include ACP Dharna Yadav, ACP Jai Singh, inspector Narender Chauhan (crime branch), SHO sector 17/18 police station inspector Ram Kumar.
