HT Friday Jam: Get set for a weekend party with a mash of Bollywood, Sufi and Rock

In its second week, Friday Jam will see performances from two bands — Mannat and Mehfooz

City residents are in for a delectable musical treat this Friday at the Hindustan Times DLF CyberHub Friday Jam, presented by KR Mangalam University and powered by Career Launcher.

Music enthusiasts will be treated to Bollywood melodies with a twist. In what is sure to get music lovers screaming for more, Bollywood chartbusters will be presented in a distinct Rock flavour. The fusion scores are set to liven up the weekend party, with music lovers letting their hair down and jiving to peppy scores presented by the participants.

In its second week, Season 4 of Friday Jam will see performances from two bands — Mehfooz and Mannat.

Mannat is a Gurgaon-based band comprising four members — Amit Sharma (vocalist), Sandeep Saxena (guitarist), Piyush Arya (keyboard player) and Raj Banerjee (drummer) . They will present a bouquet of Sufi, Bollywood, Rock and Punjabi folk songs.

The second band, Mehfooz, will play alternative sufi rock music. This band was formed in 2015 and has four members — Vishal Raj (vocalist), Alister Dayali (drummer), Thomas (guitarist) and Sumit Sahu (Keyboard player).

Apart from the two bands, a special performance by Sankraman, a multi-genre Bollywood Band formed in 2008, has been lined up. The band takes inspiration from Indi-pop, Sufi, Rock, blues/jazz and Bollywood music.

The group performs as the official touring band with popular Punjabi rapper Badshah and the inimitable Gurdaas Mann Sahab, across the world.

“We are excited to be part of the second week of Friday Jam and expect to see a crowd full of energy,” Paras Bhatia, a member of Bollywood Band.

The six-member band features Gandhar Bharadwaj (keyboard player), Rohit Joshi (bass) and Raghav Raja (percussionist), Paras (drummer/percussionist), Ankit Kholia (vocalist) and Virender Kumar (guitarist).

The event has already been a hit, with city residents coming together on a unique platform to celebrate music.
