Commuters were stuck for almost two hours both in the morning and evening peak hours at the Sirhaul toll plaza. Some made the smart decision and decided to turn back as traffic crawled bumper-to-bumper covering just 2km in two hours.

Gurgaon traffic police and the expressway concessionaire, DGSCL, blamed the movement of Kanwarias (pilgrims) and usual Monday traffic for the congestion.

"The movement of kanwarias is not very new. The concessionaire and the administration should have been prepared in advance," said a commuter.
