Man succumbs to injuries a day after being assaulted, suspects missing
A man, suspected to be in his 50s, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a city hospital, a day after he was allegedly beaten up by two men in Hailey Mandi, Pataudi, said police Monday evening.
According to the police, the victim, identified only by his first name as Balram, a resident of Jatoli, had gone to meet two acquaintances, identified in the first information report as Janak and Amit, at a local eatery in Hailey Mandi on Sunday evening when he had an argument with them, Suresh Kumar, station house officer (SHO), Pataudi police station, said.
“Following the argument, he was beaten up by the two men. The suspects punched and kicked him, injuring his chest. The victim had then called a member of his family, who took him to a hospital in Pataudi,” said SHO Kumar.
Police said the victim reported the incident to the police on Monday morning, following which a case of assault was registered.
Kumar said that the victim suffered a debilitating illnesses and his condition worsened due to the injuries. “He was referred to the civil hospital later on Monday and he died during treatment. The two men are yet to be arrested,” Kumar said.
Police said section 302 (murder) would be added to the FIR.
Four unidentified miscreants allegedly attacked the vehicle of former BJP MLA from Jalore, Amrita Meghwal. She was reportedly threatened on her way to Jalore from Jaipur on Sunday night. Additional superintendent of police, Ajmer, Vikas Sangwan said the incident occurred near Nareli puliya when the accused allegedly stopped her SUV. Meghwal in her compliant said while she was on her way to Jalore along with his brother, some people showed hand to stop vehicle.
A man was detained by the Mumbai Police from Borivali (West) on Monday in connection with threat calls to Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and his family. The police are interrogating the suspect to verify the facts. The Reliance Foundation Hospital had filed a complaint about receiving calls posing threat to Ambani and his family. More than three calls were received at the hospital, news agency ANI quoted the Mumbai Police as saying.
As India marks 75 years of India's freedom, the Kannada film industry had united and released a special song. The special song features all top Kannada actors and popular faces in the state. The song also depicts the culture of Karnataka and the spirit of the state to celebrate the Independence Day. In a tragic incident, five persons were killed and four others were injured on Monday when a speeding truck hit them in Pali district, while they were on their way to Baba Ramdev temple in Jaisalmer's Ramdevra, police said. Police said the incident occurred at around 1am on Monday under Rohat police station area, near Bandai Pulia (brindge) and Dalpatgarh. The devotees were walking under “Padyatra” from Bhilwara to reach Jaisalmer.
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday said his government has decided to launch new schemes on sanitation, nutrition, and for the well-being of farmers, labourers and the brave soldiers of the state on the 75th anniversary of India's independence. "In order to create a clean and hygienic environment in government schools and colleges, 100 per cent toilet coverage will be achieved in the state at a cost of Rs 250 crore," Bommai said.
