Since the launch of an internal app in February that lets junior engineers of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) report unauthorised constructions and illegal encroachments, 830 violations have been reported, the civic body announced in a statement on Tuesday.

MCG officials said that after a violation is registered in the app, directions for necessary actions, such as sealing, demolition and notices, are sent out through the same. (HT Photo)

MCG officials said 570 violations were reported through the app in February, 172 in March, and 88 in April.

“To expedite the process of initiating action against such violations, an internal app was launched three months ago,” said SS Rohilla, public relations officer (PRO) of the MCG.

MCG officials said that the app was developed in the Geographical Information Survey (GIS) laboratory of the MCG in Sector 34, to ensure that the data is stored within the civic body.

MCG officials said that after a violation is registered in the app, directions for necessary actions, such as sealing, demolition and notices, are sent out through the same.

“The accountability of junior engineers has also increased as seniors can keep a constant check on the action against each violation,” said Rohilla.
