Police retrieve two missing bullet slugs
The special investigation team (SIT) probing the murder of Geetanjali, the wife of Gurgaon’s chief judicial magistrate Ravneet Garg, on Monday retrieved the slugs of two of the three bullets that had killed her.
The team was assisted by ex-servicemen from the Recruitment Training Centre in Sohna and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Solution of HCL Infosystems. One of the slugs was retrieved from the soil at around noon, while the second was found around 4pm.
“Two bullet shells were found and taken into custody by the police in the presence of forensics personnel. We will send these for ballistic and forensic tests to the Forensic Science Laboratory in Madhuban tomorrow,” said commissioner of police Alok Mittal.
Meanwhile, Mittal said that although Ravneet’s alibi could not be said to have been established in the case, his presence at the places he said he was on the day of the murder had been corroborated.
Police sources said that Ravneet and his family had been thoroughly questioned to the extent that their entire “history” had been charted by the SIT.
The sources also said that it could not be said as to how many chambers of the revolver that killed the victim were loaded given that the police had not opened it before sending it for ballistic tests. But, they conceded that the revolver seemed loaded given its weight.
It was also learnt that Geetanjali was in the habit of carrying the revolver in her bag whenever the family went out of station.
